The Future is Coded: How Color Coded Kids Empowered the Next Generation of Innovators in 2024
In an age where technology is reshaping the world faster than ever, the Color Coded Kids Foundation is ensuring that no child is left behind in this digital revolution. Our 2024 programs sparked curiosity, ignited learning, and empowered hundreds of children across St. Louis — one line of code at a time.
🌐 12 Zip Codes, One Unified Mission
From North County to South City, our programs reached 12 zip codes across the St. Louis Metropolitan Area. This wasn’t just about numbers. It was about access — ensuring that kids from all backgrounds, especially those historically underrepresented in tech, were introduced to the possibilities of coding, machine learning, and cyber ethics.
🧠 Adventures in AI: Summer Camp 2024
This summer, over 150 students ages 8 to 12 took part in our “Adventures in AI” Summer Camp, a three-session experience designed to introduce them to cutting-edge technology — often for the first time.
What We Covered:
Machine Learning Fundamentals: Children trained models and explored how machines "learn" from data.
Hands-On Coding: Using interactive tools, students created their own programs and built problem-solving skills.
Cybersecurity & Digital Ethics: We emphasized responsible tech by teaching kids how to protect data and understand the ethical implications of AI.
“When an 8-year-old understands what an algorithm is, and tells you how it can make decisions — that’s when you know the future is bright.” — Instructor, Summer 2024
Our goal? Expose kids to AI early, equipping them with skills to compete, lead, and innovate — regardless of income, race, or zip code. And we accomplished that goal with flying colors.
🎓 Scholarships: Unlocking Opportunity
A major barrier to high-quality STEM education is cost. That’s why we proudly awarded $47,400 in scholarships in 2024, eliminating financial hurdles for families and ensuring inclusivity. Every child deserves a shot at discovering their potential — and thanks to our donors, many got their first chance this year.
💼 More Than Just Students: Job Creation in Our Community
Beyond students, our programs created 7 new jobs — from educators and curriculum developers to community liaisons. By hiring locally and investing in talent development, we helped grow a tech-positive workforce within the neighborhoods we serve.
📊 Growth Across Age Groups
We saw balanced participation across the 8 to 12 age group, with each age level engaging meaningfully in every session. Our structured curriculum was designed to scale with learners’ ages, ensuring both challenge and fun — a sweet spot that kept campers engaged and excited.
💌 Gratitude: Powered by Community
This year’s success is not just ours — it belongs to you, our community. To every donor, volunteer, mentor, and family who stood with us: thank you. Your support allowed children to see themselves as coders, scientists, engineers, and future leaders.
“You didn’t just fund a camp. You sparked a dream.” — Parent of a 10-year-old participant
What’s Next for 2025?
We’re not stopping here. Plans are already underway to:
Expand to more zip codes, including rural outreach.
Introduce advanced tracks in data science and robotics.
Launch a mentorship program connecting kids to BIPOC tech professionals.
