Become a CODEt  - Video Game Design

Video Game Design is 12-week course designed to teach students how to code their own video games.  Each level is designed to teach students the fundamentals of coding in order to create their final interactive video game.  See class description below for more details.

Level 1: Introduction to Coding This 4-week course is designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of the computer programming language, JavaScript.  The students will use a web-based application to solve coding challenges using block code format as well as standard written code.  The students will demonstrate their problem-solving skills by presenting code outcomes in front of the class.  Prizes for solving code challenges will be given throughout the course. There is an emphasis in this course on, not only education, but also interactive fun!

Level 2: Coding Novice This 4-week course is a continuation of Level 1 knowledge. Students will learn the concepts of variables, operators, arrays, conditional statements, loops and functions.  These concepts will be taught in a game format to help the students understand the basics of writing code in a fun and interactive way. Prerequisite: Level 1: Introduction to Coding

Level 3: The CODEt This 4-week course introduces CCK’s video game platform. The students will learn how to code their own video game design including the appearance, rules, outcomes, speed and more.
