Computer Programmer/Instructor - 6 Week Paid Internship

Do you have a passion for teaching? Do you enjoy working with elementary and middle school-aged kids? How about teaching computer programming to kids? Then, this is for you!

Primary requirements:

We are looking for an intern to lead a 12 week spring, 12 week fall session and 6-week summer programs for Color Coded Kids. JavaScript experience is a must. Must be able to explain on an elementary level the basics of computer programming including code functions, definitions, syntax (if-else statements, Boolean values, etc). Ability to use “Studio Code” portal in activities with students (https://studio.code.org)  Must have a reliable vehicle to transport teaching materials and commute to teaching sites. Also, must be extremely personable and get along well with kids.

CSS and HTML is desirable. Experience with STEM related curriculum and the integration of STEM in the development of daily lesson planning is desirable not required.

This is a paid internship. Salary depending on skills

Commitment: 1 hour a week for 12 weeks beginning January 21st, 40 hours a week, Monday through Friday 8am-5pm June 10th through July 19th  then 1 hour a week for 12 weeks beginning September 10th.

Computer programming language JavaScript background a must!   Must have a reliable vehicle to transport teaching materials and commute to teaching sites.  Also, must be extremely personable and get along well with kids.  Ability to lead courses. Be able to explain, on an elementary level, the basics of computer programming including code functions, definitions and syntax (if-else statements, Boolean values, etc). Evenings and Saturday afternoon flexibility to teach 12-week program and possible workshops and/or after-school programs designed around CCK curriculum. Excellent with technology. Ability to use “Studio Code” portal in activities with students (https://studio.code.org). Experience with STEM-related curriculum and the integration of STEM in the development of daily lesson planning.

CSS and HTML is desirable.

Commitment: Typically, 2-3 hours a week

Monday through Friday between 6:00 pm-8:00 pm Saturday and Sunday (typically a morning or early afternoon workshop)
Typical sessions are one hour a week for each course. Workshops are typically 2-3 hours on the weekend.
